We keep hearing, “these are crazy times we are in.” I think for most of us crazy can mean many things and have very different end results. Most of us had a lot of extra free time at home and I’m sure we spent it in all different ways. I thought I would share with you one of the things I did with my extra time.
I have always enjoyed yard work and it’s keep up but never really got into doing a lot of plants, gardens, or landscaping. My family on the other hand is a different story. I have many green thumbs in my family including my grandmother, aunt, mom and dad, and my sister. They enjoy dividing and sharing plants. I have plants from my mom and my grandmother, but my mom has plants from her mom, aunts, sister, cousins… Actually I’ve lost trackJ But it is kind of nice when you walk around enjoying the beautiful plants and flowers and knowing who it came from and will forever make you think of them. So with some of my free time I thought I’d give it a try and see if I would enjoy it as much as they do. My dogs were not happy that I left the couch to do something else other than cuddling with them!
It was a nice balance of physical labor and mindfulness and the end results were rewarding. From the work put in, to watching a bud pop up, to then the final flower blooming, it was pretty cool sitting outside on our patio this year. It was a different experience from past years. I’m already looking forward to next spring/summer.
I hope something new “bloomed” for you. Please feel free to share a new hobby or interest you have started during these times.
