It’s Time to Reach your Fitness Goals
This New Year make sure to add some variety to your health and wellness exercise routine. People are creatures of habit that tend to stay in a certain comfort zone for activity. But if you have been repeating the same behaviors and same activities without seeing the results you desire then it is time change your approach and add some variety.
It’s called stepping out of your comfort zone. Our bodies are designed to adapt very well to new stresses and stimulations. A workout program that was giving you great results last year or even 5 years ago may not be as effective after you have been doing the same routine over and over again. After a while you are not getting any stronger, any faster, or losing any more pounds or inches. You may have even noticed that you don’t feel the same emotional enjoyment doing your workout as you used to. Once you were feeling in the groove with your workout routine but now you are feeling stuck in a rut.

Changing the exercise format, the intensity, the duration, the rest intervals, the loads used , and the overall structure of your workout routine are some of the many ways that small changes that can lead to amazing results down the road. A new piece of cardio equipment, learning free weights, trying a new group class, experimenting with reaxing equipment are all great options. Changing the length or intensity of your workout. Heavier weights or lighter than usual weights, cardio intervals or functional exercises can help you to break through fitness barriers that have been slowing your progress.
There is not one best exercise or one best exercise program. Periodically changing your activity to stimulate growth and adaptation will activate your body, mind, and spirit to grow stronger and respond. This new and sometimes uncomfortable change will challenge you to learn new skills and in the process achieve improved strength, stamina, and self-confidence.
